At King’s, we know our physical and mental health are completely interlinked. We developed this intensive Master’s programme to train a new generation of nurses that understand the complex relationship between these previously distinct disciplines. Join us to study both adult and mental health nursing in just two years. After you graduate, you’ll be able to register with the NMC in both fields. The Master of Nursing (MNurs) is a fully accredited master’s qualification. It’s just like an MSc, MA or MBA, but specifically for nurses. You’ll gain a wide range of experience, perfect if you haven’t decided on a specialism or if you want a broad knowledge base to take a holistic view of patient health. You’ll develop your confidence, ready to take on leadership roles if you want to make even more of a difference in our healthcare system. And you’ll gain a wealth of knowledge, essential if you want to aim for an advanced or specialist practitioner role. You don’t need a science or medical degree to study this course. Instead, we’re looking for motivated students who want to fast-track their journey to a rewarding and impactful career. If that sounds like you, we can’t wait for you to join our friendly community at the most respected nursing faculty in the world.
“My first year on the adult and mental health nursing course has been exciting, engaging and everything I hoped it would be.”
After you graduate, you’ll be eligible to register as an adult nurse and a mental health nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
King’s nursing graduates are sought after by employers. They’re known for being highly knowledgeable and capable of tackling the complex challenges of modern healthcare.
Many of our graduates go straight into work at top London hospitals after they graduate. Others choose positions elsewhere in the UK or abroad. A graduate of the MNurs won the Nursing Times Award 2024 Student Nurse of the Year for Clinical Research Award.
With the skills you’ll gain from the course, you could work in hospital and community settings, prisons, clinical research, teaching and management, and integrated roles across adult and mental health nursing.
Some of our partner trusts offer an 18-month newly qualified nurse preceptorship programme made up of three six-month placements in both adult and mental health settings. It’s a great way to consolidate your learning and try out specialisms you might like to explore.
